Frequently Asked Questions
- Who runs Paperfest?
- Paperfest, a non-profit 501C4 corporation, is run by the very dedicated and entirely volunteer Paperfest Board of Directors. These community leaders have given freely of their time and expertise to guide the festival into the success that it is today, as we celebrate our 24th year. The Paperfest Board of Directors provides year-round planning in order to provide this fun-filled four-day festival. Festival suggestions can be directed to any of the Board of Directors via emails referenced on the Contact Us page.
- What happens to the money Paperfest makes?
- Paperfest is a non-profit organization. When the festival makes a profit, most of the money is invested right back into the next year's Paperfest and some is saved for a rainy-day fund so that the festival's longevity is not compromised due to the threat of bad weather in the future. Paperfest provides an hourly reimbursement to the non-profit and civic organizations that have provided volunteers to work at the various booths and events during the four-day festival. The payout to each organization is based on the revenue generated by the festival and the number of volunteer hours worked.
- Who decides which bands play at Paperfest?
- Paperfest has a dedicated entertainment committee. This committee makes suggestions and approves recommendations. However, booking bands for a music festival is a much more complicated process than most people realize. In addition to trying to provide a wide variety of musical talent to please most tastes, consideration must be given to the Paperfest budget and the bands ability to attract a large audience. All of these factors influence which acts appear at Paperfest in any given year. We work very hard to make sure that the line-up is always the best it can be and provides excellent entertainment for people in the Fox Valley area and those who travel distances to be with us. Entertainment suggestions are welcomed and can be emailed to .
- How many music stages are at Paperfest?
- There are currently two primary music stages and three secondary music stages offering a variety of music. The Sunset Stage, located in the northern portion of Sunset Park, and the Amphitheater Stage, located in the southern portion of Sunset Park, are the primary music stages. The Main Tent Stage, Family Tent Stage, and Big Hill Stage are the three secondary music stages offering a variety of entertainment choices.
